Q.
When I am swopping I annoy my co-workers!
A.
Quite honestly, we find this hard to believe since hardly anyone
swops up and down all day continuously without a break. Could it
be your co-workers are envious because you can sit all day long
in such a vibrant and carefree way? Or perhaps they are extremely
nervous and stressed and therefore ready to "swop"
themselves? Or did you have so much fun with the new-found freedom
for your back that you overdid it a bit at the beginning?
Swopping
is fun, of course, and we here at Barefoot Studio do it all day
long. Yet nobody here gets annoyed, at least not with swopping!
After all, your co-workers can only see you bouncing up and down
when you get up or sit down. Those small, crucial balancing movements
with your pelvis that keep your back fit aren't even noticeable
by anyone sitting in front of you!
Most
of us were brought up with admonitions like: "Sit still!",
"Don't bounce!" und "Don't fidget!", which has
shaped our sitting behaviour. Today we know that the exact opposite
is best: Bodily movement stimulates mental agility! Studies conducted
in the United States have shown that people who exercise their bodies
at a level of about 20 Watt (which corresponds approximately to
the minimum amount of exercise while swopping) rarely make mistakes
while working, are more creative and perform better mentally.
When
we move, we stay healthy and only those who move themselves can
move forward productively. Perhaps you can inspire your co-workers
to start swopping as well?
